Place your mouse over the icons to the left of one of them and read on. What you see in the window that appears is all obtained from the Contract table alone. This is about one fourth of the total data that could be available on an item without connecting to the online system.

With software embedded in the handheld computers, parsing these ID numbers can provide the information necessary to complete most normal transactions. (Ex: transfers from truck to storage, movement from elevator to barge, etc.) The hypothetical contract numbers you are looking at are composites made from the field and grower IDs, plus a sequencial number added on to make the contract unique, and a two letter classification as to the product's intended use.

In addition to uploading data when the hand-helds are synchronized with the online system, software updates can be picked up as well. No special action needs to be taken at the receiving end for this to take place.
